Anchovies along the FDR Drive, April 2010
A mural designed and executed by Brenda Zlamany, with painting assistance by volunteers from New York Cares
Project Information: Concrete jersey barriers become canvases for colorful designs making in-between spaces come to life with the implementation of four artist-designed murals in or on 150 barriers in one weekend during the spring of 2010. “Moving Forward,” “NYCamo,” “Food in Transit,” and “Anchovies along the FDR Drive” were painted by more than 300 New York Cares volunteers on barriers lining pedestrian paths and bike lanes in Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Manhattan. “Originally I was planning on snakes but it quickly became clear that not everyone loves them like I do, so I ended up with anchovies.” –Brenda Zlamany
